An Afternoon at the lake
A Sweet Georgia Spring!
An afternoon at the lake,
With bright Dogwoods, like fleeting clouds of butterflies, swarming sweetly,
Bright white,
butter yellow,
smokey pink;
Fluffy mountains of pink, and white and crimson,
An enveloping profusion of Azalea's in dazzling display;
An onmipresent mark of the South;
Oh, for A sweet Georgia Spring!
Sparkling water, luminous navy depths with fluid silver crowns, lapping
at one-legged poles and like limbed gulls,
a balancing act both blessed of nature and defiant in a sweet symphony of stillness;
Fluffy ducks, a reminder of innocence, joy and purity,
Proud strutting geese, in an endless parade of nature and God,
And the silver chariots of Harley Davidson, Honda and Yamaha; Man,
wheeling in admiration;
The lure of the lake, not to be denied;
Oh, for A Sweet Georgia Spring!
A sweetness of air, A sweetness of company,
A sweetness of life,
Warm sun, cool air, hushed whispers in the branches, the spirit of spring moving in the tree tops,
fragrancing the day with newness of life, peace of spirit, and joy;
Oh, for A Sweet Georgia Spring!
